This page describes our text message program, called Out of the Cave Foods Order Updates, exactly as it works. If you are a customer wondering what you signed up for, or a carrier or registry reviewer verifying our opt-in, this is the complete picture.
How you opt in
There is one way to join this program: the checkbox on our website checkout.
When you place an order at outofthecavefood.com, the checkout page asks for your mobile number and shows an unchecked box next to this exact statement:
I agree to receive recurring automated text messages from Out of the Cave Foods about my orders and account at the mobile number I provided, including order confirmations, order changes, substitution notices, delivery updates, and weekly ordering deadline reminders. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help. See our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions.
The box is never pre-checked. If you leave it unchecked, your order goes through exactly the same and you simply do not get texts. We do not buy phone lists, we do not import contacts from anywhere else into this program, and we do not text numbers that did not check this box.
We do not currently offer a text keyword to join this program. The checkout checkbox is the only opt-in.
What we send
- Order received confirmations.
- Order change notices.
- Substitution notices, for example if a menu item on your order is replaced that week.
- Delivery updates: out for delivery, and delivered with a refrigeration reminder.
- A weekly reminder that the ordering deadline for the coming week’s menu is Thursday at 10:00 PM Pacific.
We do not send promotional or marketing offers through this program.
How often
Message frequency varies with your order activity. In a week you have an order with us, expect up to about 6 messages. In a quiet week, few or none, or a single reminder ahead of the Thursday 10:00 PM Pacific deadline.
Cost
The program is free from us. Message and data rates may apply from your carrier.
How you opt out
Reply STOP to any message. You will get one confirmation text and then nothing further from this number. Note that opting out means you will not receive delivery update texts either; we will still email you about your orders. You can also ask us to remove your number by contacting us and we will do it.

The fine print
Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. By opting in you confirm you are at least 18 and the subscriber or customary user of the number you gave us. Our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy apply, including this promise: we do not share, sell, rent, or transfer your mobile opt-in information or your SMS consent to any third parties or affiliates for their own marketing purposes.
